Every fault below comes from real call-outs across Durban and surrounding areas. Some have a quick check you can try yourself before booking anyone — where that's true, we say so. When a visit is needed, the diagnosis is done with a signal meter, quoted before work starts, and covered by our 12-month workmanship warranty. New to this part? Start with the cctv cabling component guide.
1. Water-damaged cable or joint
What you'll see: A camera that misbehaves in wet weather and recovers days later, or corrosion visibly tracking up connectors.
Why it happens: Unsealed joints, junctions without drip loops, or conduit that channels water straight into a connector.
How we fix it: We cut back to clean copper, re-terminate in sealed enclosures, and re-route the entry detail so water is shed away from — not into — every joint.
2. Interference and noise on the line
What you'll see: Rolling bands, grain, ghosting or dropouts — often correlating with pumps, gate motors or fluorescent lights switching.
Why it happens: Video cable run alongside mains power, unshielded cable near noisy equipment, copper-clad aluminium cable, or ground loops.
How we fix it: We re-route offending sections with proper separation from power, replace substandard cable, and fit isolation where ground loops are the cause.

3. Broken or failing joint
What you'll see: A picture that comes and goes when the wind blows, or dies entirely after someone worked in the ceiling.
Why it happens: Taped twist joints, strain on unsupported cable, or rodent damage in ceilings and conduit.
How we fix it: Failed joints are re-terminated with proper connectors in junction boxes and the run secured; where rodents are the cause we armour or re-route the vulnerable section.
Symptom doesn't match any of these?
Faults overlap — a "cctv cabling problem" is sometimes another link in the chain wearing a disguise. Describe what your system is doing on 069 423 8290 (or WhatsApp a photo of the error screen) and we'll tell you which component it actually sounds like, free, before anything is booked.
